When guitarist Leon Eric “Kix” Brooks decided
to team up with singer Ronnie Gene Dunn, it’s doubtful
they figured they’d end up second all-time in record
sales by a duo, trailing only the legendary Simon and Garfunkel.
Neither was too successful in the world of solo music,
but together, they’ve teamed up to produce 21 number
one hits and over 27 million records sold. They’ve
won the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of
the Year Award four times and have also won GRAMMY Awards
and American Music Awards. They’re the innovators
of the 1990’s line-dancing craze and are also quite
enjoyable to watch at a live performance. Brooks and Dunn
released their first album, “Brand New Man”,
in 1991 and would go on to sell more than five million
copies. It would also produce hits like “Neon Moon,” “My
Next Broken Heart,” and their biggest hit, “Boot
Scootin’ Boogie.” After four successful albums,
the duo released “The Greatest Hits Compilation” in
1997 and recently released a second Greatest Hits album
in 2004. |
